It's been a long time since I last blogged and I have been busy. I started a new business, Sugar: Cookies, Cakes & More. I had a baby boy (that brings us up to 4 boys now!). We renovated part of our house. I have been doing a little scrapbooking, but I'm determined to not get (too far) behind on the baby's book, and to catch up on our family books. So, I will be sharing my pages on here from time to time. Here we go - to start, some baby pages!

Isn't he cute? I'm doing Jared's baby book by months, except for important events, or photos I think need their own page. I am including the write-ups I do about him every month from our family blog. I think I'll stick to the same basic layout elements for each month, to give some continuity to the book.

Mother Love

Drat! I have totally been a slacker on my scrapping! I have gotten caught up in a new venture that is taking a lot of my free time. I am catching up now, and things are returning to a normal pace.

Wouldn't it be great to have a page or two in your scrapbook about your Mom or Grandma? As much as my boys like to look at my scrapbooks, I would like to have something in their about their grandparents for them to read.

Vintage Easter

Easter is this weekend! How crazy is that? Wasn't Christmas just yesterday?! As crazy as it is how fast time flies, I am glad that it is beginning to warm up. I can't wait for warmer weather! I'm hoping it is good weather for Easter activities this weekend with my boys. Also, I'm thinking about having a super-special freebie to celebrate my first blog anniversary next month. Any requests?

Ready for St. Patrick's Day yet? I remember last year at this time I was just getting into this whole digi-scrapping thing and was hunting for cute kits to fit the holiday. I wasn't too successful. Luckily, this year, Cara at Sweet Tomato Designs has me covered. She just completed a collab with Geek Chic Scraps for St. Patrick's Day and it is called "You Sham(Rock) my World".

Once again, the color scheme is yummy. It isn't your typical St. Patty's Day bright green. It is more subdued, but still fantastic for those layouts. It would also be great for other layouts too. Here is a 2-pager I did.

Doris over at Tempus Fugit released a new kit a week or so ago and I have been a total slacker in posting about it! It is especially bad because she told me she had me in mind when designing it. Wow! That is so cool, to have a kit be inspired by you. Okay, it wasn't me that she was thinking of - it was my three boys. The new kit is all about boys and is called "Oh Boy."

The kit comes with these awesome word arts and THREE alphas. How cool is that?

Finishing up 2009

I have been trying to get my scrapping from 2009 finished up. I still am waiting on a few photos from realtives (hint, hint Tammy), but I still have photos from Christmas to scrap, and this years' photos which are starting to pile up, so I'm not running out of photos. (Not to mention all the photos I have un-scrapped from the past 8 or so years...LOL). I do have a couple of layouts to share with you that I've done recently from 2009 and one from 2010.

The first new kit of the new year! There is a beautiful new kit over at Tempus Fugit, just released this past Saturday, called "I Heart You." It is sort of a Valentine's Day kit, though not the typical red, pink and white color scheme. This kit has a lot of blue in it and I love it!

It was perfect for the pages I wanted to do about my cousin getting engaged on New Year's Eve.

I Believe

Our boys visited with Santa this past weekend. The two oldest are totally into the whole Santa idea, the youngest... not so much! He pretty much freaked out when we put him on Santa's lap. They all do the first time, right?

I used the newest kit from Sweet Tomato Designs to scrap the photo of Evan on Santa's lap. It is called "I Believe."

I love the blue and red colors in this kit. It is such a nice switch from the traditional red and green usually associated with Christmas. Here is Evan, struggling to get away from Santa:

Today I will be highlighting my last kit for Scraps by Andrea. It has been great working with Andrea. Hers was the first CT I joined and I have learned a lot, but it is time for me to trim down my CT duties and focus on other areas of my scrapbooking.

Today's kit is a cute kit for those expectant mothers out there. It is called "Baby on Board" and it comes in a boy or a girl version, and if you buy both you get a free neutral add on!

I used the kits to make a couple of layouts of my youngest when he was two weeks old. He turns two years old in a month. It is amazing how time flies!

It is finally starting to feel like Christmas around here! We have snow (about 5 inches and it's still coming down) and we put up all the decorations inside the house this weekend. The outside lights aren't going to happen this year - too cold! We should have done it back in November when I wanted to... There is a festive new kit over at Scraps by Andrea this week. Snow Angel

Brrr! It has been so cold here the past few days! It would be worth it (kind of) if we at least had some snow on the ground, but no. We have no snow! I dug up a few pictures of my boys playing in the snow last winter and scrapped a page with the new kit from Laurie's Scraps called "Snow Angel."

Laurie says this is her favorite kit yet. It has some excellent elements and every piece is very detailed, as are all of Laurie's kits. I really like the blue and green color scheme - so wintery! Now if only we would get some snow... Anywho, here is my layout:

Has Winter come to your area yet? We have already had two snowstorms that left an inch or more of snow. I love the snow - but I hate being cold! My Lifetime Story

Whistle While You Work

Do you ever wonder if your kids are old enough for chores yet? My husband and I decided this past week that our two oldest are - and I made them each a chore chart using the newest release from Laurie's Scraps - "Whistle While You Work."

Their chrts are pretty simple. They each have six chores that they do everyday. Since they are only 5 and 3 they have very simple chores - things like brushing their teeth, helping feed the animals and picking up their toys. I plan on increasing their level of responsibility as they get older, and altering their charts accordingly. They get rewards for doing all their chores for a day, a week, or a month. So far our 3-year old is doing better than our 5-year old!
I had their charts printed at Costco on glossy stock, which works just like a dry erase board with dry erase markers - no need to laminate it. The font I used, which matches the kit's word art, is called Smiley Monster. It can be downloaded for free here.

I have made a template off my design for your freebie today, though there are two 8.5" x 11" templates included in the kit when you buy it. It is 30% off this week, BTW!

365 Templates Pack

At the beginning of the year, the online scrapbook community launched an idea called "Project 365." To my understanding the goal is to take at least one photo a day and scrapbook it/them. Since I didn't join the digital scrapbook world until April, I didn't get involved. But, the project does make for some really cool kits and templates. I love the project 365 templates because they are designed for multiple photos. Laurie has just released a new set of Project 365 templates over at Laurie's Scraps.

There are four new templates in this set and I love them because they are so versatile. For one of my layouts I used the template pretty much as-is. I used a kit of Laurie's called "Stars and Stripes."

For the second I turned the template and altered it a bit by moving the photo block off to one side instead of being smack dab in the middle of the page. I think I will find myself using these templates a lot. For this one I used (mainly) the October blog train from Enchanted Studio Scraps called "Fall-O-Ween." The alpha comes from Designs by Sarah.

Happy Monday everyone! Boy, do I have an awesome kit for you today. It is another Tempus Fugit kit. This is Doris' newest and it is called "Woof!"

I love the dog we have and the ones we have had in the past. We are "pug people." We have had three pugs over the last 8 years and they are the perfect dog for us. Right now we have a 5-year old black pug name Oliver, whom we've had for almost a year. Our last pug, Max, passed away a year ago and he is very missed. We had Max before we had kids, so we were very attached to him. I finally scrapped a page for Max with this new kit.

This layout was chosen for the December 2009 scraplift challenge over at STS!

I love to camp. I wish I could spend more time camping - and I would had I the funds and my husband the time off work! I am always on the lookout for woodsy kits to scrap our photos. Give Thanks

I am having a hard time getting into the swing of Fall. The 40 degree drop in temperature yesterday helped a little, though I could have done without the walk to school in the cold rain. I am liking all the Halloween kits coming out right now! They are so cute. But Thanksgiving already? Andrea you are worse that Walmart! LOL The latest from Scraps by Andrea is the mini-kit "Give Thanks" that she released Monday with "Falling For You Again."

The kis has some darling pilgrim and indian folks, as well as a nice color scheme. I had a really hard time trying to scrap Thanksgiving pictures when it is only the first of October. Here is what I came up with:

Falling For You Again

I am thinking that Autumn is Andrea's favorite season. She is releasing two fall mini-kits at Scraps by Andrea today. I will highlight one today and one on Thursday. Today's kit is "Falling For You Again."

It is a cute little kit with an owl theme. Owls are very popular right now in the digiscrap world. This kit could be used for a summer kit too though, I think. The colors are bright enough! Here is what I did with it:

Yay! I am feeling better today. My three-year old was up all night throwing up and the five-year old started this morning, but at least I am functioning now and I can take care of it. Today I have another piece of the "September Baker's Dozen" kit from Ramona the Pest to share with you. This mini-kit is called "Slumber."

I love the soft colors, sweet stars and fanciful elements. It is just perfect for those pictures of sleeping babies. Here is what I did with it:

I am bringing you another piece of the "September Baker's Dozen" kit from Ramona the Pest today. September is almost over, so I need to finish that up! Today it is the included mini-kit called "Memories."

I think this mini is a very versatile one. You could use it for anything from heritage pages to baby pages. I used it to make another page for our family portrait book. Flowers aren't just for girls! (I keep telling myself that).

Today I am highlighting another mini-kit from the "September Baker's Dozen" kit from Ramona the Pest. This one is a cute fall-themed mini called "Nuttin'."

I chose to use the kit to scrap a couple of photos from my little boy's preschool trip to the pumpkin patch last year. I think the kit is great for those kinds of photos!

There is one thing I don't like about the change of seasons. I don't like the cold viruses that hang around the house. I inevitably get one from one of my boys. I am recovering from one right now, which is why I am late posting about the newest kit I got to work with from Scraps by Andrea. It is a big ol' fall kit called "It's Fall Y'all."

I really do like this kit. When I am feeling 100% again I will have to play with it some more. For now, here are a couple of simple layouts I did with it.

Irish Eyes

Cara just released a new kit over at Sweet Tomato Design. It is called "Irish Eyes." It is not a Fall kit like a lot of the others I have been featuring here. It is more of a Spring kit - especially if you like St. Patty's Day or all things Irish.

I know this kit is very special to Cara because she is an Irish Dancer. How great would it be to use it for Irish Dancing pages?! I love it's soft colors and the lace elements. I had to find a picture of my sister and niece to use so I could make it sweet and girly.

Fall Festival

What colors come to mind when you think of Autumn? I think of rich, deep reds and oranges. Bright yellows, warm browns and all the lush rich colors in between. I was pleasantly suprised at the color scheme for the latest kit from Scraps by Andrea - "Fall Festival."

It's color scheme is bright and happy, with pink, blue, orange, brown and green. This is a kit that you could use for more than just fall layouts.

Fright Night

Halloween is coming! It is one of my very favorite holidays. I love making my boys costumes, just like my Mom did every year for me. Laurie over at Laurie's Scraps is getting a jump on things with her new kit "Fright Night."

I like how the color scheme is a little muted and not the glaring black and orange usually associated with Halloween. In fact, I did two layouts just because I liked it so much.

I have another set of layouts for you from Ramona the Pest's "September Baker's Dozen" kit that was released this month. This time, it is from the mini kit "Puppy."

We love our dog. Oliver is our third pug (fourth if you count the one my husband had before we were married). Oliver is so great with kids, isn't too hyperactive and love to just be with people. The only downside is that he has the worst gas! We still love him though.

School Dayz

I love September. The weather is warm enough to not wear a jacket during the day, yet cool enough at night that I can snuggle under a quilt. And school - oh how I love sending two out of my three boys to school. I love that they love it, and I love the time it gives me to be with my youngest (even if he does nap during part of it). Andrea released a new school-themed kit called "School Dayz" on Labor Day. I was out of town, so I am just getting around to posting my layouts and quickpage. It was a great vacation though, so I don't feel too bad about it. The kit is only $2 this week so go grab it!

We already have school pictures back from my oldest. Their turn around time was super fast! The younger one should be getting his taken at the end of the month.

Are you done with summer yet? Are you ready for fall? I don't know that I am quite there yet. As much as I love the cooler weather, I do love summer. There is a lot of autumn scrapbook kits appearing out there already though. This new collaboration kit, "Autumn Air," from Laurie's Scraps and Pure Creativity Designs is the first I've been able to work with.

I love the color scheme. It will be great for all those autumn pictures - jumping in the leaves, Thanksgiving, or even school pictures.

I am also working on a new project - a portrait book. I have all of these portraits in a box that I have meaning to make a book out of, so now I'm doing it! Each page has the same basic layout, just the colors and accents vary. The date strip, stitching and info box stay the same, to lend continuity to the book. Here is an example:

"First Day of Kindergarten"

My oldest just started kindergarten about three weeks ago. He was so excited. He loves school! I did this LO to commemorate his first day.

This LO was chosen as a Gallery Standout over at Faith Sisters! And it was featured in "Made You Look Monday" on the Faith Sisters blog. Woo hoo!

Almost all the product I used is from Three Paper Peonies. I love her designs! I think most of it was her "School" kit, with pieces from the "California" kit.

Simple Pleasures

As a child, I would never have dreamed that one of my favorite colors would be brown. Yes, brown. I have noticed that I tend to lean towards brown for the backgrounds of my layouts. It is just such a nice, grounding color. Hmm. Good thing Andrea over at Scraps by Andrea put lots of brown in her new kit "Simple Pleasures." There are other nice colors too, but I'm really digging the brown.

She first released this kit during the SYTYCD contest at DigiScrap Addicts and I first got it there. She has added lots more to the new version though - papers, two alphas and more! This is a great kit for scrapping your everyday moments.
